This is the unfortunate reality for millions of women and girls, every single month. Period poverty is a serious, pressing issue and one that…

Our funding programs
"The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write,
but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.”

Access to electricity opens doors to greater safety, education, employment, and more.
For the 1.2 billion people living without a source of light, the future can feel uncertain and without hope. We’re on a mission to equip and empower rural women from remote regions to spread village-based solutions that improve the wellbeing of families and communities everywhere.
We believe in the central role of women as changemakers.
By funding the Enriche Curriculum, we help give women the tools and training they need to become agents of sustainable change. The Enriche Curriculum is a supplementary program that all Barefoot Solar Engineer trainees receive during their stay at the Barefoot College.
Digital Night Schools
Digital technology powered by Barefoot
With the introduction of digital technology powered by Barefoot solar-powered projectors and other off-grid solutions, our funding improves the Barefoot Education program. We will help open 25 new night schools associated with solar electrified villages, expand the rural solar bridge school model across 8 states in India, and ensure that children have the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.
Regional Training Centres
Barefoot Regional Training Centres are launching across the global south
Launching new centres in Africa, Latin America and the Pacific Islands, helps to train more solar engineers who can then disseminate their knowledge internationally. Barefoot Regional Training Centres are launching across the global south, including Zanzibar (2015), Madagascar (2018), Senegal, Burkina Faso, Liberia (2018), Guatemala (2018), Indonesia, Myanmar, and Fiji.
